PADI ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER Exploration, Excitement, Experiences.

Complete the PADI Advanced Open Water course with Sugar Land Dive Center and take your dive skills to the next level as you complete five Adventure Dives.

The PADI Advanced Open Water course builds confidence and expands your scuba skills. As you complete your Adventure Dives, you get to try out dives from other specialties while gaining experience under the supervision of one of our patient PADI Instructors. You will also have a lot of fun as you learn new skills.

We make it easy to complete our PADI Advanced Water course. We schedule our Advanced Open Water course over one weekend at least twice a month, and we also offer individual Adventure Dives every weekend for those who need to spread the course out over a longer time frame.

As with all our courses, we offer all-inclusive pricing on our Advanced Open Water Course.

Of the five Adventure Dives, there are two that you are required to complete. These two dives are:

  • Underwater navigation
  • Deep Adventure

You will then choose three more adventure dives: Peak Performance Buoyancy, Enriched Air Diver, Night Diver, Wreck Diver, and Search and Recovery. There are several to choose from, even a Rescue Diver Adventure Dive!

As you read the chapters specific to the Adventure Dives you choose, you will also learn about:

  • Practical aspects of deep diving
  • Physiological effects of deeper scuba diving.
  • More ways to use your underwater compass
  • How to navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks, and time
  • How to better use your dive computer and electronic Recreational Dive PlannerTM (eRDPTM)
  • And much, much more, depending on the Adventure Dives you choose

You will also complete the "Thinking Like a Diver" section, where you will learn about four central techniques of diving, which are:

  • Primary and secondary dive objectives
  • Increasing your situational awareness
  • How to handle task loading
  • Better habits to be a good diver

Once you have completed your five Adventure Dives, you will earn your PADI Advanced Open Water Certification.

Prerequisites:

To take this course, you must be:

  • A PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
  • 15 years old (12 for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)
