How the Cozumel IDC Works

The PADI Instructor Development Course prepares qualified dive leaders to become PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors. During the IDC, candidates develop the teaching ability, knowledge of standards, in-water control, judgment, and confidence needed to begin working as dive professionals.

The Cozumel IDC includes PADI IDC eLearning, the PADI IDC Digital Backpack, and all required IDC materials. Candidates also receive instructor development training with PADI Course Director Phillip Hetherington, including IDC Prep, classroom development, confined-water and open-water teaching practice, standards review, skill development, and preparation for the PADI Instructor Examination.

Choose the Cozumel IDC if you want a destination instructor-development experience, warm-water diving, three days of included 2-tank boat diving, and the opportunity to complete your IDC in one of the Caribbean's best-known dive destinations.

Prerequisites

To enroll in a PADI Instructor Development Course, candidates must meet PADI IDC prerequisites. Requirements generally include:

• Be at least 18 years old

• Be a certified PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, or hold a qualifying leadership-level certification

• Have been a certified diver for at least six months

• Have at least 60 logged dives to begin the IDC

• Have at least 100 logged dives before attending the Instructor Examination

• Have completed Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care training, or qualifying CPR and first aid training, within the past 24 months

• Have a current medical statement signed by a physician within the required timeframe

• Meet all current PADI standards and Instructor Examination requirements

Are accommodations included?
